This will focus on Apple products and services and how to use these products and services with Apple’s screen reader, VoiceOver.

What is a screen reader?

A screen reader audibly describes what is on the screen in real time as a person uses a computer or mobile device.

The screen reader allows a person with low vision or no vision at all to use a computer or mobile device independently without other people’s assistance.

How to turn VoiceOver on and off

To turn on VoiceOver on any Macbook, Mac mini, or iMac, hold down the Command (cmd) key and press the F5 key. Hold down the Command key and press the F5 key again to turn VoiceOver off.

To turn on VoiceOver on an iPad or iPhone, quickly tap the power or side button three times. Quickly tap the power or side button three times again to turn VoiceOver off.
